We are TheWriterSantas.
Our group works like any other Secret Santa service would. You add your name to a list (in this case, the sign-up journal each month) then you have your own Secret Santa assigned to you, and meanwhile you are signed up as someone else's Secret Santa!
This is for the writers of dA, so obviously it is for the literature arts and not the visual ones.

SS for DragoonHPThe Lady From Bloodspill Lagoon

A long time ago, before boats ferried into the bay and before the docks had been built, Bloodspill Harbor was a pristine lagoon. The waters were crystal clear and large rocks jutted out of the sediment below. Coral reefs teeming with fish and turtles and sharks sat beneath the rocks. Seagulls would circle the inlet, flapping their grey-tipped wings to the rhythm of the waves on the rocky coastline.

Many sailors claimed to have seen mermaids resting on the massive rocks. Like dolphins, the undersea people would breach the surface of the ocean for a few minutes and gracefully flip back into obscurity. It was a SS for DragoonHP by ~D4NI3LA

the scream came from a young boy, 16 at most. his face ragged and dirty, he wiped his eyes on a dusty sleeve before turning around and glancing behind him at the endless desert that awaited him. his eyes dark , reflecting off of the light like ebony, glinted with bemusement as he stared back at his companion. the other was also young, perhaps 15.
in the world that they lived in, it wasn't as if age mattered. after all, it was just another number, another slow step towards the eternal oblivion of death.
"god, keiro, how do you even walk so fast?" finn spat into the sand, shooting an amused glance at his oathbrother. "why in such a hurry? there's nothing here but sand and sun."
"i think i saw something up ahead." keiro's tone was impatient and excited, which was par for the course.

I was hanging from a rope over a pool of lava filled with mechanical sharks and piranhas... again. And my hands were slowly but steadily slipping down the rope... again. I was about to fall to my certain and inevitable death... again.

I was used to this by now.

Usually, when you think of an action movie, you imagine the fights, the chase scenes, the dastardly villain lurking in the shadows, maybe Nazis if the movie is set in that time. You'll converse with friends as your eyes are glued to the screen, watching the brave Indiana Jones confess that he's afraid of snakes as he uncovers the clues to find an ancLights, Camera, Action for BurningQuill by ~Flimz

A Day to Remember

It was the day before the annual end-of-the-year concert in Central Park and Mena still hadn't found the right piece. Her mind was frazzled as she tried to think of different ways she could put together her favorite pieces, but nothing was coming to mind.

"Mena, you just need to relax. Something'll come to you, I'm sure of it."

"I hope you're right, Chloe." She replied, sitting back in her couch. She felt a wet nose on the tips of her fingers, nudging them slightly and almost instantly her hand moved forward to pet the soft muzzle of Leon, the Service Dog she had gotten shortly after her entrance into Julliard. She loved the company that LeA Day to Remember by ~Just-A-Dabbler

Damsel and DragonA young, elegant woman ran through the forest as a gigantic dragon with golden scales and steel teeth lumbered behind her. The woman's elegant dress was being whittled away by the brush as she weaved in and out trees. She was beginning to slow down as scraps were torn from her beautiful gown. She was breathing heavily and her chest ached as the horrifying beast began to gain on her. It pushed the trees aside with it's massive claws. Soon the dragon was nearly on top of her. She looked over her shoulder to find that it was readying itself to strike. The dragon snapped it's metallic jaws at her. She would have died that moment if she hadn't leaped backward and caught a hold one of the dragon's horns.
The dragon's brief confusion allowed the woman to slide down the horn and straddle the dragon's neck. The now furious beast struggled out in vain to shake her off, going so far to slam it's own neck against trees. This did more damage to the trees and it's own neck iDamsel and Dragon by ~BurningQuill

SS Submission for FlimzThe Last Man on the Moon

There's a statue in the center of Lunar Park of some guy who was called "the first man on the moon." It must have been a big deal back when Earth was the only planet people lived on, but look at this dustbowl now; nothing but dilapidated buildings and craters. The streets were paved with the finest irons and titaniums when Stellar City was first constructed, just after the scientists figured out how to simulate gravity in open environments. I used to buy ship parts from a store on Constellation Avenue. I remember how people would skip about from Earthrise to Earthset. The moon used to be teeming withSS Submission for Flimz by ~D4NI3LA

May SS Gift for D4NI3LAA group of five teenagers were huddled in the corner, their eyes fixed intently on an old CRT monitor fixed in one of the far end of the old and rusty industrial container.

A dim flickering tungsten lamp was the only source of light in the container and it made the container look creepier, as the light coming from it enveloped the room in an orange glow. Silence as thick as ice surrounded them and it seemed as if none of the five teenagers were breathing.

Except the old CRT monitor and the lamp, the room was virtually empty. A dark gloomy atmosphere had settled in the room.

The woman was dressed exotically in purple silks and a veil covering from her nose down. She was dark skinned and her hair was tied back into a ponytail. Had it not been for her smirking he would have found her attractive.

The man's cloak swirled in the chilled fall wind as he walked through the graveyard at Godric's Hollow. He was quiet, almost menacing, as if he was a ghoul, the spirit of one of the deceased. He stopped in front of a pair of gravestones, head turned down against the wind that whipped his hair and his cloak about still.

He seemed to pay no mind to the name on the left any more than a glance over the words, the dates. He knelt in front of the right, a few quiet words carried off on the wind, flowers suddenly in his hands, which he rested against the gravestone. Flawless beauty, people, land. I mean, would you want to live there? There, where those oblivious creatures don't even know that beings of higher intelligence exist? We may be at war with Grigorise, but that doesn't mean we must escape our homeland to live there!"

He'd been worrying about losing his hair for years and he needed no confirmations from well-meaning family members. He sighed, removing the headphones. He looked around, hoping to see something interesting, but he saw the same old white walls, the same old boring cubicles surrounding him and the same old people busy talking to customers.

He sighed; the decently lit room made it look like it was still noon outside and he hated it…

"Troublesome customer?" asked Jenny.

"Nah, I'm just a little tired today," he said, looking at the clock.
